Craft Your Happiness: Opportunities at Every Age
For anyone who might have missed it, 17 year old british whiz kid sold an APP, Summly, to Yahoo for milions. It goes without saying, this is impressive. Especially to an old girl like me, who's still trying to figure out what APPS are all about.
"It's a young persons world", is something I recently heard. Oddly, one has to thank those who've paved the way before us, advancing the world in significant ways (inventions of microwave, tv, airplace- big things we use everyday) as well as give thanks to the young persons who are advancing our world in ways we might never have imagined.
The key is taking advantage of these opportunities which are available to people of all ages, not just young persons.
About 10 years ago I started a business called Jodi Lewis Collection. A handcrafted line of interchangeable watchbands and watch faces. It was a lot of fun, but a TON of work. Pounding the pavement, setting up booths at Craft Shows/Fairs was a humbling and exhausting experience.
Thanks to the whiz kids there's an easier way to reach customers. Pounding the pavement or setting up a table at a craft fair is a thing of the past. Customers now find you!
There's Pinterest, Wanelo, Polyvore, Pose, Wantful, Fancy, Craft Gawker (these are all websites to discover, collect and buy fantastic items) Doors are wide open for creative types to showcase their talent to the world at large, not just those in their zip code.
So, I'm dusting off the Jodi Lewis Collection, giving her a much needed facelift and getting ready to relaunch!
