Craft Your Healthy Habit: HIIT 6 Pack Abs

On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (isn't this where everyone gets their  fitness information?) viewer wanted to know from guest Jillian Michaels, the best way to work out in order to get a smaller stomach.

Jillian said, "Besides watching what you eat, high-intensity exercise is the key." Andy asked if sit ups were important. She said, "Absolutely not, it is multiple-muscle training."

Six-Pack abs are on my 101 in 1001 days list. I've been actively working towards this goal and not getting anywhere despite all the ... SIT-UPS.. I've been doing. Go figure.

According to Shape Magazine, High Interval  Intensity Training (HIIT) calls for adding bursts of activity to your workout. Usually it’s associated with running, but can be applied to other types of cardio/aerobic exercise, too—elliptical, biking, walking, swimming, etc.  2 weeks of high-intensity intervals improves your aerobic capacity as much as 6 to 8 weeks of endurance training.

Burn more fat, lose the belly, alas the abs will have better chance of appearing!
I'm going to try this 3 days a week:

Treadmill Interval Training
1 minute:  5.0
1 minute:  5.5
1 minute:  6.0
1 minute:  6.5
1 minute:  7.0
1 minute:  7.5
1 minute:  8.0
2 minutes: 4.5
Repeat: 3 times= 27 minutes
                4 times= 36 minutes
                5 times= 45 minutes
